Should we know everything, as Wikileaks believes, or do states have the right to keep secrets?
Wikileaks leak's information to the public to the citizens that most governments don't. I believe that the governments have reasons why most things don't get to the common people for many reasons. Whether they do not have all the information or are afraid the way people may react. Freedom of speech is one of your rights as a human being but there are certain things that should not be published because they offend and or scare people. When that happens people do irrational and irresponsible things they normally would not do.
I believe due to the founders current legal issues the site should be shut down due to his credibility. If he is a criminal then he shouldn't be allowed to leak information that could possibly be untrue. In the United States if you are convicted of a felony your company can be stripped from you and it should be the same for everyone. I believe he is sneaky and is trying to get a rise out of people. Most the information that goes on behind closed doors gets to the public when it is complete and ready to be produced to us.
I also believe people believe what they want to believe, if they are persuaded by things that may not be true then they are weak minded. I believe in the United States government and what they do is for a reason. If the founder is convicted of sexual assault I believe the site will be shut down but it will only be a matter of time until someone starts a new one. The other was is if they stumble across some classified information. Sooner or later they are going to leak something that will endanger and or kill people and they will be shut down. I also believe that if they have the power to gather the information they are getting now what else are they capable of?
Bobby,
ReplyDeleteOk post. I need you to write about the opposing viewpoint. It's very important (worth 20 points). Who disagrees with you? Who would defend Wikileaks and why? What are their points?
This post seems a bit rushed.
Also, you forgot to include your list of 3 facts/sources (worth 10 points).
You also need 2 pictures. Here, you only have one.
